The 51 Russian Studies committee is hosting a three day workshop on campus. The first part of the workshop will be presentations on “Russia’s Asia Connections.†On the first panel, Professor Scott Levi (Ohio State University) will present “Central Asia on the Frontier of Empires: Crisis and Transition†alongside Dr. Janet Killan (US Department of State) who will present “Fear and Loathing on the Kazakh Steppe: Russian and Kazakh Trade with China, Bukhara, Khiva, and Kokand in the 18th and 19th Centuries.â€
