Fourth Saturdays Trail Projects' at Makiki Wai

The Oahu Na Ala Hele Trails program is asking volunteers to come and helpﾃつonﾃつa project called the Makiki Watershed Awareness Initiative (WAI). ﾃつThe objective of the project is to restore a segment of theﾃつMakiki ahupua`a to a native Hawaiian forest and better functioning watershed. We will be removing invasives around the natives and replanting natives. We are doing this every fourth Saturday of the month. What to expect:ﾃつﾃつﾃつWe work fromﾃつ8:00amﾃつuntilﾃつ2:00pm. This month's focus will be: trail improvements and weeding around the native plants; getting ready for next monthﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢s Earth Day project of replanting native trees and shrubs.ﾃつ As usual, the work will most likelyﾃつbe hot, itchyﾃつand dirty...... but very rewarding! Why go to the gym? When you can come work with us. There are bathrooms and drinking water nearby.ﾃつ Families are more than welcome but young children must be well supervised.ﾃつ ﾃつ What to bring:ﾃつﾃつLong shirt and pants, mosquito spray, 2 Liters of water, lunch or a snack, gloves and sturdy shoes. ﾃつﾃつ Where:ﾃつﾃつMeet at the Makiki Forestry Baseyard just above the new Hawaii Nature Center building. 2135 Makiki Heights Drive Baseyard.
